Duo Piano contra Bass



We first met at the Musical Academy "Reina Sofia" in Madrid and since then we have been regularly playing musik together.
Our repertoire incorporates classical, as well as Latin American music.

Xiomara Escalona was born in Venezuela. She took her first music class at "El Sistema". At the age of 20, she won the scholarship "Mozarteum Venezuela", according to which she studied at the above-mentioned academy in Madrid with Ludwig Streicher and Antonio García. After that, she spent two years in Venice at the "Accademia Musicale di San Giorgio". Following this, she graduated from the Musical Academy of Cologne with Gottfried Engels. She played as a guest musician in several famous orchestras with such conductors, among others, as Kurt Masur, Yuri Temirkanov, Sir Neville Marriner und Armin Jordan.
She now lives in Cologne and works on several projects as a contrabassist or a pedagogue.
